  • Project ponderings

Can you tell I'm bored and can't do anything I need to do for another hour and a half?

So. I would like to try to improve my ADD short attention span.

I do National Novel Writing Month (same username), and have been doing it for 8 years. This year has been rough going, and I can't wait to finish and drop this puppy to the curb. But I like doing NaNo because otherwise I don't get crap done the rest of the year. I've tried to force myself to do a novel in a year...and flaked and bailed after a few months. I did National Novel Editing Month last March, realized I need to rewrite the draft entirely...and then flaked and bailed after the month was over. After a month of writing I end up either (a) being sick of it, or (b) would want to continue, except next month is December and uh, distracting because I have to make a bunch of gifts. Either way, it all boils down to, "Uh, you're NEVER gonna get a novel published, or any book at all, if you don't work on it in a sustained, sticking-with-it, rewriting it long after you're bored of it, manner." I have been told that Mars in the 9th by the midheaven = great for publishing. I'd like to uh, actually manage this. But since I seem to be shit-crap-tastic at sticking with writing...I'm thinking, maybe do something over the course of a year in another area and see if I can sustain THAT. I'm a crafter, so I'm thinking along the lines of "uh, make something huge in yarn" might work.

Anyway, I decided to do a tarot card reading on it. Which is to say, I used facade.com and was lazy :)

The Creative Process spread is designed specifically to peer into the nature of a project or creative undertaking, and shine a spotlight on the evolution of its parts.

The card in the middle represents the creative force behind the project, be it a person, organization, or other entity. Judgement: A swift and conclusive decision. The resolution of a matter long unanswered. A change in point of view, most frequently towards greater enlightenment. Final balancing of karma.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Not sure what to make of that.

The card on the top represents imagination - the prophetic image that stems from the creative force of the previous card to initiate the project. This is the poetry or voice of the undertaking. Death: A major change or transformation, possibly traumatic and unexpected. Freedom from the shackles of the past. A new beginning. Death coupled with rebirth, usually related to consciousness and lifestyle.

That is kind of the point...I want to transform myself and CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW FOR THE LIFE OF ME. I'm a fixed sign girl and "just haul off and quit your job and fly by the seat of your pants" is not for me. I'm not great on "mental pictures" or figuring out step by step how to get from A-Z either.

The card on the left represents emotion - the feelings aroused by or surrounding the ideation of the project that takes place in the previous card. This is the music or scent of the undertaking. Knight of Wands, when reversed: The dark essence of fire, such as a great conflagration: One filled with vitality and limitless appetite. A sexy and exciting person, obsessed with style and outward appearance, overconfident in their abilities, and foolhardy in their actions. A hot temper and domineering nature, coupled with a love of false drama and all things theatrical. Anxiety over remaining in one place or with one person for too long. The rapid approach, or more likely departure, of someone or something that ruptures your world. Often suggests travel as the result of discord, or cruel indifference.

Uh...? (Court cards are not my strong point.) Okay, I do have anxiety over staying where I am too long. I have my reasons for doing so, and I need to stay in roughly the same place (at least in location/job) for another couple of years before I could haul off and make Big Changes anyway. I guess that's what it is more than a "bad dude comes into your life" thing. Okay, that might too, but I've been so utterly man-free I wouldn't count on that.

The card on the bottom represents thought - the analytical process of organizing the project and capturing the emotional content of the previous card. This is the science or vision of the undertaking. Page of Pentacles: The essence of earth, such as a mountain: The surprising appearance of new prosperity and opportunities for advance in the physical world. One who delights in the pleasures of the body, material things, and nature. The embrace of hard work, realistic goals, and scholarly perseverance as a means to create solid achievement. Dependability, trust, and a studious nature. May portend a new job or promotion.

Makes sense. My analytical thought makse me think that I need to put in some work and attain some goals.

The card on the right represents manifestation - the real work involved in completing the project, and the form it will take upon culmination. This is the painting or touch of the undertaking. The Moon: Cyclic transformation covering the mysterious forces of the night. Feminine beauty and the intoxicating vitality of youth. The metamorphosis from beauty to beast and vice versa. Occult forces, sensitivities and intense dreams. Dangerous situations and perilous times.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Not sure what to make of this card. Other than "maybe it should have some kind of feminine/psychic influence."

  • Elsa class discussion stuff

I'm not sure how much of this stuff we can talk about in public, I'm assuming that's kind of a no-no. So any mutterings I do related to the class are going to be friends-only. If you want in to read, do the friending thing and I'll let you on.

  • Woo, astrology blog! With a ginormous moon picture! Yay!

My other one is at fullmoon.vox.com, should anyone else be bored and looking for reading material. It's more of a quote-whore-digest than anything else.
